A new way to fight head lice

A new way to fight head lice.
Insecticide-treated underwear won't wipe out lice infestations in derelict shelters, according to a remodelled study. The tactic initially showed some success, but the lice soon developed defences to the chemical, the researchers said damage. Body lice can overlay through direct contact and shared clothing and bedding, and the complication is worsened by overcrowded conditions.

The study, which was published online Dec 4? 2013 in the minutes JAMA Dermatology, examined the import of giving homeless people underwear treated with the insecticide permethrin. Forty participants were given different underwear treated with the insecticide and 33 others received untreated underwear. They were checked 14 and 45 days later sex drive increase second trimester. On time 14, the researchers found that 11 of the 40 rank and file given treated underwear were self-governing of body lice, compared with three of the 33 who received untreated underwear.

This difference, however, was no longer noticeable at heyday 45, and the body lice showed increasing recalcitrance to the insecticide. "This try clearly demonstrates that the use of insecticide-treated underwear had the consequence of increasing the interest of permethrin-resistant body lice in sheltered unsettled people," said study leader Samir Benkouiten, of Aix Marseille University, in France. "These findings steer us to advocate avoiding the use of permethrin to treat body-lice infestations, although implementing imaginative strategies is crucial" natural-breast-success top.
